Day 1 started off EARLY, being picked up by Mike and Julie, meeting up with the rest of the gang and heading off on the drive to Kitimat. I haven't driven that way in a long time. It really is a beautiful drive but we sure were happy to reach our destination and climb on board the Rosemary T. I had an idea of what to expect but wow! it's just not something you can picture. Once we and all our gear were on board we headed out down the Douglas Channel, paused briefly at Jesse Falls, stopped for an hour or so to fill some crab traps (dinner has never been that fresh!!) and then anchoring in a pristine little bay where we had a crab feast and spent the night.
On day 2 some of the guys awoke early to get out in the Zodiac to do some fishing. Hours later they came back with a good haul of cod, snapper and halibut - Mike's hali was 110 lbs!! Sadly he was too sick to get a picture with it, so his wife Krista reluctantly stood in for him :) Brad caught his first salmon - though the one in the photo is the 30 lb Spring he caught, Ethan and I stood and sat patiently by the poles reeling in the odd tiny rock cod that either went back where it came from or became food for the eagles. Yeah...there are no pictures of me with fish. I only reeled in one rock cod and he was quickly thrown back to the sea. Micah was a dream baby on this trip - loved the sway of the boat and was just happy, sleeping or eating the whole time. We are so lucky to have such a good boy!

Time on the boat is somewhat meaningless. We fished, we read, we slept, enjoyed the scenery, watched humpback whales breaching, feeding and diving very close off the side of the boat. We stopped at a natural hot spring where we were able to relax. All in all for me it was an amazing opportunity to relax and enjoy God's creation - to witness his perfection, unspoiled by our human hands. Thank you Mike and Julie for the invite and thank you Dunkley Lumber.
